Chassis view of experimental receiver [8K]
Three stacked chassis of one
of the experimental receivers

Little, if anything, seems to have appeared in the public publications regarding Murphy's early work with television. However they had been actively working on the development of television since they created their own television department in the first half on 1933. When Germany began regular 180-line broadcasts in 1934 they visited Germany and came to the conclusion that a higher definition would be required and thus Murphy's then 120-line experimental tranmitter was modified for 240-line operation. After the "Selsdon Report" was released at the start of 1935 Murphy ran a series of demonstrations though none of them were for the general public.
